Clear four seasons in Ou Mountains 
Located in the heart of the Ou Mountain range, Ogachi has some of the heaviest snowfall in Japan. Thus, our long and severe winters have developed lifestyles and food cultures unique to the area.
Blessing from the mountains

First, after enduring Ogachiユs severe winters, mountain plants are fed by the freshly melted snow. This produces vegetables that are full of rich flavors.

In spring, when plants start to sprout, locals climb the mountains to pick vegetables to cook during the year. We have around 30 kinds of mountain vegetables.
Enjoying winter with the family

In fall, locals harvest vegetables and prepare them to preserve for the coming winter..

Ogachi people have to endure 4 months in deep snow. Pickling vegetables helps keep people happy and healthy during the cold season.
Pursuing the true taste

The pickling methods unique to Ogachi provide us a simple and natural taste.

Especially in old days, it was difficult to prepare food for winter. Despite this, through their own wisdom and ingenuity, the Ogachi people and their food traditions have endured. The consequent pickling method produced by these conditions provides a simple natural taste.
